The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as a monumental loss to the nation.
According to Professor Usman, the death of the former President is coming at a time when the country is also mourning the loss of prominent industrialist and philanthropist Alhaji Aminu Dantata is a solemn reminder of the inevitability of death and the need for younger generations to prepare themselves for leadership roles rooted in integrity, honesty, foresight, and a clear vision for Nigeria’s future.
He noted that both Buhari and Dantata embodied distinct values that should inspire the youth to pursue national prosperity with purpose and principle. The former President, he said, commanded mass respect and loyalty due to his well-known personal discipline, honesty, and integrity.
Professor Usman further described Alhaji Aminu Dantata as a man whose wealth and business success were matched by his generosity, citing his numerous charitable contributions and efforts toward community development.
He said Dantata built on the legacy he inherited from his father to expand the family's business interests and support the country's socioeconomic growth.
While acknowledging that their contributions to national development were too numerous to mention, the NAHCON Chairman emphasized that their passing is not only a shared loss but also a lesson for the emerging generation to embrace values that promote unity, peace, and development.
Similarly, the Chairman paid tribute to Oba Sikiru Adetona, the revered Awujale of Ijebuland, who passed away after a 65-year reign marked by peace, development, and religious harmony.
Professor Usman described the monarch as a patriotic and selfless leader, who also served as Chairman of the Ogun State Muslim Community, where he played a vital role in promoting Islamic values and interfaith cooperation.
